This is Joe, Dr Joe Allan Oppenheimer of Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA, and 20th June was his birthday! I was going to note his full address, but you can never be too careful... Dr Oppenheimer insisted that we should have a pyjama party for his birthday and he wore this nightgown. Bonnie, winner of the Peoria, Illinois World Strudel Championship, wore her pyjamas too in order to celebrate the big day. Dr Oppenheimer's sister Cathy -- and of course J. and i -- refused to wear one, but Joe did not mind. We went to a very fine restaurant, and when we tried to enter the restaurant, they barred our way because they had a policy against diners in peejays. J. and Cathy tried to woo them with the 'Horseradish Dance' and then Stinky Monroe promised to do a free concert if only they'd let us in and not seat us in some obscure corner for diners in bedclothes. Well, when they realised that J was Stinky Monroe they were so delighted that Dr Oppenheimer almost walked off in a huff because he was no longer the centre of attention even though it was his birthday. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed it very much.

in the unbelievable non world of the electronic strudel, it is impossible to win awards. and in pajamas, it is hard to swim the atlantic. but these are trivial problems as compared to finding out how to attend the party after it happened. luckily, we weren't invited but could crash a number of months later. that made us unable to digest the strudel, however.
